he's being charged with a double-homicide because he's being charged in cincinnati, a traditionally conservative city. Thus, it's actually NOT in keeping with the logical progression of a Pro-choice argument.
Now, some pro-choice advocates might point out that this fetus was to be born, therefore the choice had been made that it would become a person. I suppose that argument could be made. Personally, I think it's silly that he's being charged with a double homicide. I think a single homicide charge is appropriate.
Cases like this are going to cause trouble for abortion rights because they further blur the line between what is a person and what isn't. I suppose it's possible to see that as the underlying goal of the charge, to create a legal presedence, I prefer to think of it as a misguided attempt to increase the punishment for a criminal offense using an emotional impetus rather than a logical application of the law. I would call it dirty pool, but that's how the prosecutor has chosen to go.
i also, being a person who believes that a woman has a choice as to what happens to/in her body, think that the charge of homicide is inappropriate. i would agree with a different charge, however, which would increase his punishment. the fetus was not his to destroy.
