Do you have a minute?  This might take a while...  Nutshell:  It's about that (old) article regarding the judge who attempted to take away an adopted daugther because the parents were athiests.  The emceelynx guy thinks this is just too much and thinks we should all give up and move to Canada...

greatest concentration of wealth and power? check - even the biggest disparity between the 1% who owns most of that wealth and power and the other 99% of the nation who is slowly sliding into grinding poverty as regressive financial policy guts the middle class and widens that gap, transferring wealthand power upward and exchanging it for debt downward ( ... )

The USA does, in theory, guarantee the populace more freedom from government interference in their inherent freedom (you follow?) than that which was historically allowed by your average King or Dictator. It was a big step in a (more or less) new direction. Yet, none of this freedom was given freely. Much of it was purely lip-service in the beginning and it remains a constant struggle. Rousseau's "All men are born free, and yet everywhere they are in chains." sadly remains true ( ... )

it's not necessarily fleeing in terror to imagined greenery though. if another country's governance and society are more in line with a persons stated ideals, both in its stated ideals and its compromised implementation, choosing to leave can bring one more in line with sympathetic power and action towards their personal ideals ( ... )
