part of why i want to train up my endurance and upper body strength is for getting into parkour. also known as 'tearin around outside' when you grow up out in the texas hillcountry (runnin through gulches and dry creeks from friends with airguns). sometimes augmented with mountain bikes and skateboards.

but no really, parkour is teh awesome

I used to play Parachute off the roof of my one-story house when I was a kid. In high school I used to climb up the side around on the roof of my middle school when I thought no one was around. My brother and I used to play Chase Around The House Without Touching The Ground, I got pretty decent times on the Marine Corps obstacle course, and I can still climb the monkey bars better than my kid, but... Parkour is something else entirely.

The Electric Company was brought to you today by your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

They look like Superman or something. It got me wondering, how the hell anyone could learn to do that... Would it be as one course in a lifetime of study towards becoming an amazing human being? I could do that. But, then I realized I'm too busy living the life I've chosen to live right now to even considered jumping right in, no pun intended, to a Parkour hobby. I'd have to get in shape first. Stop smoking. Start breathing regularly again, while motionless and a tad mindless. Maybe then, after some readjustments, when I'm 40.

yoga and capoeira or aikido or wing chun

and it's all in the levels, running down a rocky hill avoiding trees and slides is just as much parkour as taking two sets of stairs the hard way. one most anyone could do while the other is for those exploring the olympic heights of the sport.

it's all in the flow and getting lost in the moment

I love the tag you give it -- I love that this exists. Yea! Thanks for the comments and the love dear sir. The synchronicity machine has indeed been working overtime. It just produced a little ballet for me which resulted in my deciding to do a national spoken word tour. Depending on how the money goes I want to be ready to leave in September -- but it may take longer. I need an ubervan and enough cash to pay for 18 months worth of gas and rice. America is a big place and I don't want to miss anything important.

I just found a chapbook by Hope Amico -- remember her? The strawberry elf?

Did you know we are careening in on the 40th anniversary of the Summer of love? (was that '67 or '68? Nothing in particular happened last year -- lets say '68 regardless.)
