Yeah that's kinda retarded... he's saying.. if Iraq was the Northern Ireland situation then they'd need as many troops as they they needed. WTF?

Anyway, I think troops get killed in Iraq because of America's love for bureaucracy.

the bit you quote isn't as silly as it seems. When he talks about the Brits occupying N.Ireland he's probably not referring to the Black and Tans (or the Auxiliaries) that fought mostly in the south of Ireland during the War of Independence 1919-1921). He's probably talking about the regular army troops that moved in to N.Ireland during 1969 when Catholics started agitating for civil liberties. It's actually a pretty good comparison. The Brits painted their occupation as being "to protect Catholics" -- bullshit, they were afraid they were going to lose N.Ireland.
