The problem, I am sure, is the rotten venue. El Corazon is known for being the worst club in Seattle in recorded history. And I just caught myself saying (thinking) "it's too bad..." It's too bad. Bummer. What are ya gonna do. Oh, well. It's taken over two decades, but, wow - that Seattle apathy comes naturally, now.
The path of least resistance: apathy, ennui, passive isolation. People "accept" bad clubs like El Corazon, with bad air, bad lighting, bad sound, bad floors, bad service, and bad management. They "accept" it nicely until one day they don't bother to show up.
Peter F. Murphy deserves better than "El Corazon or nothing," and so does Seattle's musical subculture. But it's so easy to give up and stay home here. I don't know why.
I have no idea what the answer is. Something in the light, something in the lattes, something in the culture... it all combines to give Seattle this absolutely maddening PASSIVITY. And it really is too bad.
