We lost.
We shall regroup.
designmonkey_ko summed it up best:
http://designmonkey-ko.livejournal.com/253061.html "In case you didn't hear, Seattle lost the bid to Long Beach, California. The bid period was very short compared to C16 which is going to have almost 9 months between bid and voting plus it was almost a last minute decision of mine and noxenlux's to throw in a bid for Seattle but we tried. I want to thank our small Convergence committee,
vomvamuse,
noxenlux and
dj_sprockets for helping put together a bid. For me, it was an awesome and new experience.
Only 163 folks voted but here are the results:
Boo's Pants 3
Long Beach, CA 104
Omaha, NE 16
Seattle, WA 40
"The Queen Mary will be a lovely weekend adventure and a nice intimate Convergence so I applaud the ladies who put together a obviously well thought out party, Congrats to them."

Am I upset? No. Just disappointed.
I truly believe we put together a great bid. A true testament to what an amazing group of people I worked with was the speed that we got this together. I challenge ANY other committee to put together such a put together bid in a week. Heck, and Seattle has done it twice now.
I feel that we were under a lot more scrutiny since we were the unknown and very unexpected dark horse. Long Beach should of won simply for the balls it took to take the C* out of the normal box and put it on the boat. They did not need the rabid fans to win.
