When my sister goes over to the coast for my godfather's memorial service next weekend, she is going to finally spread my parents' ashes into Morro Bay like they wanted (my Dad has been dead for almost 5 years now).  She's really upset about it and has generally had a hard time dealing with the whole ashes thing (hence, I think, the 5 year wait

I suppose it's possible you may have some after-effects once she's spread the ashes but I can totally see where you'd struggle with not being able to help her.
