Elephants are so incredibly majestic. They are just so mellow and huge and walk in this dainty little fashion which is a bit of a paradox since they are so hefty in size haha

I've been following your posts. Sorry if I haven't replied.
Thailand definitely sounds interesting! You seem to be concerned about the tourist element there, though.
Strangely enough, I'd never thought of that. But it's just the sort of thing that would turn me off the place...
But I'll be going there when I get the chance, just to grab some food. Everything in Japan alternates between grey (in the day) and neon (at night). Souless or tacky, take your pick.
So, how long are you staying? Have you found a teaching job? What visa do you have? Are you there on holiday, or are you going to be a resident?
You've been there for a while now, and I'm still not clear on what your plans are. =)
Yeah sorry I have been really busy and not really able to write freely about EVERYTHING that's going on here.
Yeah tourists are quite abundant here but I'm stuck in that funny dilemma of my appearance vs my nationality -- many ppl, tourists and locals alike find it very confusing.
Not sure whether I'll stay in Thailand to teach for that reason among many others -- It's quite difficult for me to be independent here because of safety and appearance.
I haven't looked for a job yet because I haven't really found a place that I really like, and I have only spent a few days at any one place as well.
I guess I have no plans cos I don't know what I'm doing really -- is it easy to get jobs in Japan/Taiwan? I have to think about other alternatives right now -- I feel Thailand is more suitable as a holiday destination rather than a place to live.
How are things with you btw? Everything well with you and gf?
I have a friend that taught English in mainland China ... I'm not sure if you'd be interested in that.
They also run programs in South Korea, but I've heard about some bad experiences (ie. a friend-of-a-friend had to teach the second his plane arrived; problems with pay, etc.)
I know Japan is always hiring. And they accepted me... =p
I don't know about Taiwan. My company seems to do its recruiting in-house. All I know is that my students say that their Taiwanese business associates (and their children!) speak perfect English. In addition to language-schools, they also have American private schools.
Things are well. I arrive in Australia on Boxing Day. My girlfriend and I can't wait.
Yeah if I was gonna teach long term, I would be greatly interested in teaching mainland China -- I know the language better than anywhere else, and if I taught in a city like Shanghai then I'd know my way around and how to be independent cos it's quite safe there. But it isnt as cheap to live as in Thailand.... gah so many tradeoffs
