Okay then tell me about Gale. I tried following the DDS LPs on somethingawful but IDK it just doesn't ping me in my soooul. What grabbed you about Gale and why do you like playing him?

Gosh, what didn't grab me about Gale is an easier question to answer. I knew, pretty much immediately, that he was going to have a special place in my heart. The fact that he was the only member of the team who actively resisted gaining emotions even though it was obvious he had them struck me initially; his near-obsession with precision and logic gave him the impression of being quite ruthless, and that pinged me deeply. Yet, he still had these moments where he'd seem to lose himself briefly, before repressing himself for the sake of logic. It's not until he meets Lupa, over halfway through the first game, that he slowly starts to awaken. Basically Lupa tops the hell out of him and opens his eyes to things like honor and justice, and Gale finally breaks and awakens. To me, the scene where his emotions finally click in is very powerful, and without spoiling too much, it was a deeply emotional scene. Gale becomes someone who still holds intelligence and logic in high regard, but understands the importance of compassion and friendship.

HOW DO I DESCRIBE THIS.

Okay, first things first: Vaan's mostly over the 'you're-a-dickhead' thing. He still thinks Kristoph is an ass! But it's frustrating being angry with someone all the time, especially if they're someone you're just angry at on someone else's behalf and have no personal beef with. So he settles for just being annoying, which he's good at. He's also kinda curious about Kristoph and what makes a guy turn that foul, so he doesn't mind hanging around him as long as he gets to poke fun sometimes, and keeps at least some watchfulness around him.

What does Raph think about Rabi and his rapidly failing...mental health.

ON THE ONE HAND, he wants to do everything he can to stop it, but on the other hand... h-he's figured it's an inevitable thing. Just based on what he knows about Rabi, it seems normal that he'd have a breaking point for how long he can stay in such a static position for so long. And it makes him sad that he can't do anything about this! (Then again, at least he's realized that he's powerless in this endeavor) But what makes him even more sad is knowing that Rabi can pretty much never go back to the way he was a year ago, when the stir crazy hadn't gotten to him nearly as much, and that memories of playing video games together or giving presents on birthdays are things of the past. Raph has a difficult time letting go of things, and this is one that he's having trouble accepting.

5 things Vaan and Malboro-chan have done together.

1. Played cards.

2. Played rock paper scissor.

3. Discussed how pretty the young ladies in the cabin are. And how handsome that older gentleman is~! (Vaan felt this to be kind of an awkward conversation)

4. Taken a walk to meet Marcy wherein Vaan stood off to the side looking kind of pale and clutching his sword behind his back while Malboro-chan and Marcy chatted amiably about the weather and how rapeable the campers are.

5. Set up a disciplinary system for 'good touches' and 'bad touches' following the previous encounter. Malboro-chan made a very sad face, but ultimately agreed.

I want to ask something about Gale, but I'm not sure what! What's your headcanon on how he met the others, maybe? Since we know that Gale had to be the last to join. Alternatively...I dunno. Is there anything you want to essay about about him?

AS FOR THE FIRST QUESTION, I haven't actually thought that much on the state of the Junkyard before canon. I'll answer your question later once I've thought about it.

AS FOR THE SECOND: Gale likes Cielo in a... very strange way. Cielo can be kind of annoying to him sometimes, especially when he's in his must-logic-everything-to-death mode, but it never goes beyond mild annoyance. There are times when Gale is very grateful for Cielo's presence, because Cielo is like a breath of fresh air to Gale. Sometimes he needs Cielo's utter lack of attendance in following rules or logic. Sometimes he needs someone to laugh and smile where he's uncertain and wary. Cielo provides this for him, and ultimately makes him one of Gale's most important people. Gale hopes that he provides something similar to Cielo, that he might be the voice of reason and intuition where Cielo might feel foolish, or afraid.

His hopes are fulfilled! I mean, yes there's times Cielo finds Gale's logic mode irritating and boring, but even then he knows its value to the Embryon. Without Gale's strategy, the Embryon would probably not have survived the Junkyard, and he knows it.

Beyond that, he relies on Gale, in his own way more than he relies on anyone else, even the rest of the Embryon. Gale's his rock, and man the jokes about the comparative expressiveness are just so tempting here XD But Cielo is...flighty isn't the right term exactly! Flightiness is a luxury that isn't really available in the Junkyard. But that's where his tendencies go, and Gale serves as his counterbalance towards those tendencies, helping him be serious when he has to be and giving him an awesome target for teasing when he doesn't have to be.

In short, Cielo loevs Gale.
