I just finished Den of Thieves, James B. Stewart’s account of the insider trading/junk bond scandals of the Eighties. It was a good read, full of detail but not so bogged down with the intricacies of the schemes that I would lose interest. If you told me back in the Clinton years that it would turn out by 2009 that Neil Bush, by far, will have caused the least amount of damage to the American economy of all the Bush brothers I can't even imagine how hard I would have laughed at you.

If you were to have told me back in the Clinton years that I and other people of my political bent would be yearning for the regulatory power and tax rate that was in place under Reagan I would have laughed until I cried. Now, of course, I just want to cry.

Actually, it just make me want to not do anything remotely productive towards society or politics and just study literature and talk about crazy people for the rest of my life.
