Cats apparently aren't that bright. Dogs passed a similar test so long as the strings were perpendicular, but couldn't work out angles. Crows passed this test regardless of the strings' arrangement.

Crows are going to take over the fucking world.

they're pretty close to world domination as it is, i think. crows have got it made.

have you heard of new caldonian crows? they're the only known non-primates to make their own tools. i think octopi are close, but i think they'll just use existing tools. creating one's own unique tools (and NOT just learning how to create them from conspecifics!) puts new caldonian crows in a whole other class.

I have! I thought that I had linked to them and not the Japanese supercrows. I have a whole new respect for crows. I thought forever that birds were dumb because they couldn't move their heads fluidly. I guess this is why I am not a scientist.
