I have exercised every single day since January 14th. Nine days straight. This, to me, is unfathomable ( Read more... )

Why? Good question...

Because I'd love to be able to eat whatever I want, without gaining a lot of weight. Because when we travel, I get winded going up stairs and shouldering large bags, and I think working out at the gym regularly would help with that.

But most importantly, because as I get older my body feels older. My metabolism is slowing, and I'm putting on weight like there's no tomorrow. And when I have the excess weight, my knees and joints hurt, and I have no energy.

If I can say "I am a gym rat" and actually mean it, and actually love going to work out, what that means to me is that I don't hurt the way I do these days, and I feel in control of my weight and body (rather than the other way around) and I have energy. All things that I really, really want.

One I forgot... Also because study after study shows that regular exercise helps banish away depression, and ease stress. Two major benefits that I desperately need.

well done! Isn't it such a great feeling to *want* to work out? I love that feeling!

Just be careful not to overdo it. From my own experience, the real hump comes in about a month in to it.

Oh it sure is. I'm still not sure exactly *who* this person is who gets out of bed willingly in the morning. I feel a bit perverse.

I'm almost two weeks into it. I have heard that a "habit" takes two weeks to establish, but for something like this, I totally think it's *at least* a month! If I can do this for a month straight, I will really be feeling good about myself.

Which Y do you go to? I have my sisters employee pass (shhhh dont tell) for the next 100 days or so. I've been going to Ballantyne Village and Morrison at night when I get off work (like 5:30-6).

Have you heard of Zumba? It's this class they offer a few times a week. Its like dancing working out toning cardio all in one. They let 70 people in the class and the lady at the front desk said they normally end up turning away about 30 people. Isnt that nuts? I think I'm going to get up the nerve and go next Wednesday. It was full of young people and, like me, not all of them had rhythm but all of them were smiling so I think I'm gonna try it!

Hey there! I go to the Morrison Y mostly. We started at BV, because it was close by and no screaming kids and all, but compared to Morrison, it feels so sterile. There's something about Morrison that appeals to me (besides their circuit weights being on FitLinxx, which Ballantyne's aren't).

I am there every single day between 6 and 7am (thus far) and on weekends I try to get there late morning/mid afternoon. I also siwing by there occasionally on Fridays during the midday (probably tomorrow too). I have heard of Zumba! I'll have to check the schedule and find a class I can go to and let you know! It would be cool to meet up for a class (esp. since my sickeningly early AM routine probably will not coincide with your evening routine)... :)

I suck for not replying sooner. Sorry! Now that the computer goes to work with my husband, sometimes it doesnt get unpacked at night. Sometimes I'm ok with that.

Anyway, I have talked myself into going to Zumba tomorrow. Its from 6:45-7:25. I should hopefully get off work in time to get over there and get my hand stamped. I'll probably go do crunches or something to avoid standing in the hallway with the "kids." Hahaha. If you are going to head over there try and find me. I'm going to put pics on my lj in a minute. I wear a pink shirt and grey pants. I'm excited!
