Where do these songs come from?

Hey guys, maybe someone here can help me with this "mystery" that has been plaguing me since I began listening to Voxtrot in 2005. When I first began listening, some nice people sent me some "non-album" Voxtrot tracks, since all they [Voxtrot] had out at the time was the Raised by Wolves EP and two 7" singles... Oh, and the Just Can't Wait Any ( Read more... )

"Whiskey and Water" used to be up for streaming on Voxtrot's website (along with "Start of Something" and "To Love Is To Rob.") This was before Raised By Wolves came up, like, between late 2003-early 2004. I'm not sure when it was taken off.

I have "Silence Is A Burden" on a self-titled (I think; there's no writing anywhere on it except 'Voxtrot') CD that I bought at now-defunct 33 Degrees in Austin. The other songs on it were the aforementioned "Start of Something" and "To Love Is To Rob" and a song called "Dirty Version" that had a girl singer. Again, this was before Raised By Wolves was out.

Thanks, that does help a bit. I believe "To Love is to Rob" is "Angry Mulch"/"I Don't Care About Mulch" because that is a line in that song. Which brings up another question: Why the "mulch" titles? As far as I can tell, the songs are not about mulch...

I once yelled out "Whiskey" at a Voxtrot show. One of the guys looked in my direction and smiled, but that was it.

If I remember correctly, "Whiskey" and I THINK "Warmest Part of the Winter" were from SXSW comps, or at least that's how they were labeled.

Aw, I wish they'd play "Whiskey" live... I think it's one of their best songs.

Oh, and thanks for the SXSW comps tip! That makes sense.

What about They Never Mean What They Say? Where's that from? Should that be on your list, or is that not a mystery and I'm just retarded?

Oh, and you have Massive Mothers, right?

I have "Massive Mothers;" it's great!

"They Never Mean What They Say" was the b-side on the (now out-of print) "Raised By Wolves" 7" (also known as the first Voxtrot release I ever bought : ) ).
