I saw the film Shortbus last night. An excellent film for open-minded people. The movie was explicit, but the sex scenes were not, and not meant to be, erotic at all. Nor were they even gratuitous -- they served to enhance the plot. (A review compared the sex to the musical numbers in a good musical.) They were as much a statement against

as for drugs, I have no idea - never done any, never plan to, so that's really all I care about =P
