Room 516, Tuesday

After his conversation with Gratuity in class yesterday, Hyacinthe had several new things to look up on the Wikipedia. He'd started keeping a mental list of concepts to read up on during conversations, so he wasn't constantly interrupting with questions. Of course, his research tended to get interrupted by needing to read other articles to explain ( Read more... )

Dante'd made plans to hang out with Hya during the fire drill, and well, fuck, something good better come out of that time. Besides, he thoroughly needed a distraction so he wouldn't be wasting more time getting wasted and leaving voicemails on a dead girl's phone, so it all worked out just fine.

He rapped a jaunty rhythm on the doorframe with his knuckles, then parked his shoulder against it. "Yo, Hya."

[WHY DID YOU REMIND ME THAT THAT EXISTED, YOU HORRIBLE WOMAN?]

Hyacinthe enjoyed reading as much as the next person, but too much time spent on the Wikipedia tended to give him a headache, both from staring at a screen and the sheer volume of information it contained. He was relieved to push his maps away on the desk and turn to grin at the Dante in his doorway.

"And hello to you," he said with a genuine smile that didn't hide his long once-over in the least. So sue him, Dante was pretty, even by D'Angeline standards. "Looking much better without the patina of purple slime, I must say."

[[I HAD TO LINKDROP IT SOMEWHERE]]

"And I even stopped smelling of fake grape," Dante agreed merrily. "Which makes me think you're probably all cleaned up too." He pulled away from the doorway and stepped into the room.

"Of course," Hya said, his smile sliding slowly down the spectrum towards 'smirk.' "Unlike my roommate, I did not bring my bedclothes outside with me. A few showers and I was back to normal." And now that smirk was turning dirty. "Not that that misadventure didn't provide some benefits."

Like the discovery he could stop wearing clothing to bed out of a misguided sense of politeness.

Roscoe was enjoying a busy day of... playing with face-swapping apps on his phone. He had face-swapped with a lot of cute animals today. It was exciting stuff.

He came in from the common room without looking up from his phone, plopped down on his bed, and only then looked up at Hyacinthe. Who was... writing something? Drawing? "Don't tell me you're doing homework," Roscoe said, eyeing him with some suspicion.

"Nay, though I would were it actually assigned," Hyacinthe said with a sigh. "Part of the agreement I have with my benefactor for coming here."

Though odds were good he'd have done it anyway. He'd never had a chance to go to school before and found the experience intriguing.

"I'm trying to learn the names of the countries here. Is there truly a country called the Netherlands?" He smirked. "Sounds a little dirty, don't you think?"

"Very," Roscoe agreed. "They even have a reputation for being very liberated over there, believe it or not."

He dropped his phone on his bed and walked over to look at Hyacinthe's work. "Does the geography have anything in common with your home?"

"Oh, 'tis much the same," Hyacinthe said, putting the maps next to one another. "Europa is still Europa, though my time has fewer countries and the borders have shifted. But see? Terre D'Ange is a hair bigger than France--" Sorry, Belguim "--though they occupy roughly the same place and space on the map. The same with the Cedicca Unitas and Italy and Spain and Aragonia, for example"
