On the Blue Jays...

Well, Toronto just beat the Washington Nationals (formerly the Montreal Expos) 7-0 today, with Roy Halladay picking up his 7th win of the season. He's been vintage Halladay so far this season, and for that I approve. Josh Towers is set to complete the interleague sweep on Sunday (and oh what a glorious sweep it'll be, have your brooms handy ( Read more... )

Yeah I know *hangs head in shame* 2/3 is dirt, you only gain one game as opposed to three *sighs*. Oh well, we still won the series. The important one is the one coming up against Boston though...

Well I think we're doing really well and I think we'll be consistently decent this year. I only we had another marquee pitcher we could probably make the playoffs ala Oakland. I think we're really lucky so far. Josh Towers was a steal and he'll probably be decent for a longwhile. But yeah back to the starting pitching issue. Till we get another ace or 2 more decent starters I'll have to quote Jim Mora for the rest of Major League eternity, "Playoffs?!?! What are playoffs?!?!?!". Though I have to say, the bosox and yankees are abnormaly blowing this year due to age. So yeah its a new playing field out there perhaps, one where our youthful club can contend. I guess we'll see come august.

Oh was flipping through my SI baseball preview again. Blue Jays = Padres in a very big way. Which is a good thing cause you can poke major holes in most lineups and with the blue jays and the pads its hard unless you point a overall aire of mediocrity. We're like smooth peanut butter not chunky or OJ sans pulp.

Yeah true, it's like I was saying, our offensive output the previous years have been a few key players: This year it's really scary how even the contribution has been.

As to the starting pitcher issue: Yeah it would be nice to have two Marquis pitchers, but I don't think it's particularly neccesary. Of course, if the Jays finish 15 games out of the wildcard, I will rapidly revise my decision ;)

But they play clutch, which I absolutely love about them. Like their sweep of Boston. I realize it's early on in the league, but those are still three very big games.
