Could you expand on the "entitled shits" thing? Are you living near a bunch of UVA students or something? It would really be better if you just learned to mentally dismiss them, because there will ALWAYS be entitled shits in the world, and moving away from them/torching your decent living situation is not going to change that -- it will only make *your* life harder.
A math question: Is the garnishing taking *more* out of your money than would be taken out if you just paid the bills? i.e. is there a penalty fee or anything?
That sucks about the water bill. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING from your landlord. For serious. (Also, did they raise your rent in the middle of the lease? I'm pretty sure that's illegal.)
"Torching your decent living situation". Using a destructive overtone was appropriate. I get tired and frustrated and just wanna burn sometimes, after all. I live near frat houses and student condos. Yelling, broken glass in the streets, swarms of kids with no respect for anyone or anything is pretty commonplace. That's mainly what I aimed to get away from, but you're right about mental dismissal being a better option in this situation. That said, I decided to stay on for another year after all and not make myself sick and depressed with the stress of an unnecessary sink or swim situation. Better to focus my time and money management, knock out debts, and take advantage of close proximity to work and bus stops than go for the ambiguous option that could save me money at the cost of sleep and stability, things I already struggle enough with
