Valentine had never in his life been so happy to see the dream world as he was when he and Helena returned there from where Spike had held him hostage.

"Free! Free at last! No more bloody handcuffs and ugly leech-y things with frightening teeth!"

Helena worried her bottom lip with her teeth and kept glancing at Valentine. "Are you sure you're all right?"

"Yes, I'm sure!" Valentine was, at the moment, busy making up a sort of hyperactive, gleeful victory dance involving juggling; after just a moment of that, though, he lost his balance and dropped the balls. He picked himself up quickly and smoothed out his clothes, pretending that nothing happened.

Helena went after him, picking up juggling balls and stuffing them in the pockets of her sweater. "Well, you're being as weird as normal, so I guess he didn't leave any lasting scars."

She stood up on tiptoe and pulled the collar of his robe to the side. "Did he bite you?"

Valentine turned, nearly smacking into her but stopping just short.

"No! ... actually, I have no idea why he took me in the first place. Perhaps vampires are easily bored."
