so we get to sleep last night around 2 after getting everything ready for "santa" Lactose free milk, cause we care. anyway, L wakes up makes coffee and then wakes me up. You actually thought she'd be into the PRESENTS?!? Dude - where have you been all this time? Have you not come to realize that all commercial toys exist because we adults no longer comprehend, much less find joy in, such simple pleasures as a cardboard box, a plastic hangar, a plain kleenex, or the car keys?

Surely you have attempted to replace her fascination with a remote control or cell phone with a toy version only to find yourself in possession of a thoroughly disgruntled and indignant baby? Come, man, did you truly expect anything LESS?

All this said with tongue firmly placed in cheek. Amelia had more joy in sucking on curling ribbon than anything else short of watching furballs through the sliding glass door, so I am in full sympathy.

Brian once had a Christmas (he had just turned 2) where everyone overdid it- grandparents, great grands- you name 'em they overbought. He got so overwhelmed that we eventually had to stop with the present opening and call it a night. For the next 3 months we had random present moments with the overage.

So if she made it through all of them, you didn't go too nuts. :)
