Ok, hey...check this out...I'm American, after all!

Aug 16, 2005 21:06

Turns out after all those teenage years of bashing the old US of A, Uncle Sam is coming back to me and slapping me across the face, American style. Alright, so, I'd be telling lies if I said I'm a real American and all...got no citizenship papers or anything, and I've only been to the States a dozen times in my whole life. But honestly, there IS ( Read more... )

This is like how I discovered earlier this year that my ancestry is actually French on BOTH sides of my family! My mother and and my grandmother were born in England, I thought I was safe! But trace it back a few more generations and you'll find that my (actually very famous) great great great great grandfather was French! I also discovered just a couple of months ago that there os most likely a drop of Indian in my blood as well. I've been meaning to write about all this but I haven't got round to it.

WTF, he lived 100 years??? Tough bastard.

So, you're pretty much all-around French...héhéhé. Just need to pick up on the language a bit more, right? :P

He didn't live for 100 years, he actually only lived for about 27 (I think) before being assassinated. That picture was published on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Silly canadian, there is no such thing as american blood... except for native american blood. All blood here comes from some other country somewhere else in the world because the ancestors, who came from those countries thought it would be cool to kill off all the real americans and populate this place with their own offspring instead.

So no pride or shame necessary, maybe you have some english in you, that's cool. Did I ever tell you I have relatives who landed with the first boat that hit Québec... I think it was in the 1660's but I could be wrong. Then a bunch of them emigrated to Manchester NH in the 1860's to work in the mills, along side the irish. How interesting family history can be. I also apparently have relatives that were involved in the 1st french revolution where Robespierre (spelling on that one?) was cutting off the heads of the nobility. Very fun non?

Then again, with the same logic one could argue that there's no such thing as French or English blood as blood there comes from some other country where mankind originally evolved.

Why yes my Finnish friend, perhaps it would be best saud that we are all of the same blood. Maybe that's our problem, maybe that's why there are nuclear weapons, because everyone is so busy thinking they are part of some small thing, like they are american or french and are forgetting that we all carry the same chromosomes, we can donate blood to one another and.... and.... you might be onto something here. We're all fuckin cousins man... shit I just realized I love everyone in the world... except the gimps.

You saying being your "cousin" instantly qualifies you as one of Jiére's love interests? Unless the cousin's a gimp?

Am I seeing a bit of redneck-ness in that message?

And I just realized something else, and it deserves a new comment. But in the last like week now you have suddenly started showing us pictures of yourself which you were totally opposed to doing for so many years, and now all of a sudden you're American?!?!?! Body Snatchers?

you don't have to say not really. it is painfully obvious that aliens came down and gave him an anal probe that is making him do all these strange things. I thought he wore glasses too...

So you're Québécois?

I found out recently that I have some Canadian ancestry, which thing I never before did know. I'm dating a student up at McGill, though, so I feel Canadian enough.

Yup, but not quite your typical clichéd Québécois.

What sort of Québécois are you, then?
