I watched about .0001 of a second of one video. I was under the assumption he finished the course then collapsed. I was not prepared to see him on the course. I couldn't watch it. So very, very sad.
All I know is, from the video I glanced at, he was not anywhere near a gate when it happened. I could not bring myself to actually watch. I saw him bobble, from a standstill, and closed the window. I saw fences all around. I don't know if it was immediately after the last fence, but he was on the course.
yeah, reading up while I was at work, no news site was senseless enough to post photos or video, but I think I found what you found on youtube. there is another that shows most of the actual jumping round from tv, then skips to him on the ground with a replay of his collapse.
(edit: from what it looks like, Eric's watching/waiting for scores after the round when it happens)
So very sad.
While I totally DON'T get the people mourning as if they ever knew the horse personally or cheered rider/horse on (yeah, right, stop bandwagoning and yes this includes people on my f-list), it is still horribly tragic and my heart goes out to them all.
