BY THE CREEK
The Rabbit was sitting on the bank of the creek and staring at the water. From the water, the Other Rabbit stared back at him. And when the Rabbit moved his ears or nodded his head, the Other Rabbit also nodded his head and moved his ears.
Then the Bearcub came by.
-What are you doing? - he asked.
-Can't you see? I am moving my ears and nodding my head.
-Why?
-What do you mean? - the Rabbit was surprised. - There, in the water, there is the Other Rabbit. See - he is nodding his head and moving his ears!
-Is there also the Other Bearcub in the water? - asked the Bearcub.
The Rabbit kneeled beside the water and inquired of the Other Rabbit:
-Listen, there wouldn't happen to be Other Bearcub in there?
Other Rabbit looked to the left, then to the right, then he moved his ears and shook his head.
-No! -said theRabbit -There's no Other Bearcub there. Take a look for yourself if you want to.
The Bearcub came to the creek, but as soon as he kneeled over the water, he saw the Other Bearcub.
-There he is! - the Bearcub exlaimed moving his ears all about. The Other Bearcub also moved his ears.
And then the Rabbit and the Bearcub sat together on the bank of the creek till the evening time, nodding their heads and moving their ears. And when it started to get dark, the Other Rabbit and the Other Bearcub got up, waved their paws good bye and went home to bed..
