i can't believe i read all that. there are so many assumptions and blatantly counter-intuitive ideas put forth there i don't even know where to start. i read it and i don't think i get it. sure there's a plateau as far as what can be done graphics wise in gaming, there's just a point where it gets good enough and i think we're there. i recently finished half-life 2 and i've had few game experiences like it. video games aren't like movies just like the internet isn't like tv or newspapers. sure playing gta isn't like watching the godfather. its immersive, it lets you play at being a gangster, there's problem solving and dozens of side games it rewards the casual and hardcore player and it appeals to most everyone

The analogy does break down in places, but I have to wonder: since the experience is more seemingly software-driven, is there a need for so many money-losing platforms?
I see Wii moving ahead, because it doesn't stray from the niche.
I see this as the Gotterdammerung for Sony and Microsoft. One of the systems will not survive to Platform Round Four, unless a couple of people come up with Killer Apps.
As for Cat Poking Tourney '06, I hear the guys at Videlectrix are working on that.
