[It's that time of year again.  You know the one.  Christmas.  On Christmas Eve, Adell will have gone around to a lot of homes or other places with gifts he got for people.  They're all wrapped, actually rather well this year.  But he'll make sure to instruct people not to open their gifts until the morning of the 25th.  For people that live

When Sylvia catches Adell around the house, she approaches him with a small smile. It was considerate of him to give her something, even though she has no clue what one of them is, exactly. ]

Adell.

[OoC: No problem!

Adell ends up smiling back when he sees Sylvia doing so.]

Hey, Sylvia!

[ ooc: ♥ ]

Merry Christmas. [ is the obligatory comment, then she continues: ] About the gifts . . .

Merry Christmas to you too. What about them?

[vanhossen]

[ She pulls out the Dark Rosary, which lies flat on the palm of her hand as she shows it to him. ]

It's finely crafted, but what does it represent?

It's an Emblem from the Netherworld where I come from. It signifies nobility, and wearing it will boost your natural abilities some. It's a mark of respect and strength.

[vanhossen]

I see. That's remarkable. [ She really does think so, considering her status and all. ]

Netherworld. [ Wait. She looks puzzled. ] The after world?

[vulcanblazer]

[Adell shakes his head.]

Not exactly. That's a common misconception, especially considering a lot of literature from Earth refers to it the same way. That or the "Underworld."

But the term "Netherworld" in my universe is... different. It really more refers to a world in itself, like a planet. They're usually inhabited by demons and monsters, but there are some Netherworlds inhabited purely by humans, a mix of humans and demons, or angels.

And most demons aren't the fire and brimstone, horned things you read about. Most demons look... almost human. You've seen Mom. Her extra eye is unusual even amongst demons, but for the most part, demons and humans look a lot alike where I'm from.

[vanhossen]

[ She follows Adell through the whole explanation. While she doesn't interrupt him, there's a number of things running through her mind as he speaks. Namely, all this talk of demons and mixed populations. ]

What you're saying is . . . is that you come from a world with all these different species -- and that you, yourself, are a demon.

[ She seems to have this down, somewhat. ]

It's a little more complicated than that.

[And perhaps a bit hesitantly, he brushes away some of the mop of red hair along the side of his head, revealing a pointed ear to Sylvia.]

...Though you've got that last part right.

[vanhossen]

[ Wow, he has pointed ears like Santa's helpers. Sylvia initially looks surprised by them, but the look doesn't last for long, replaced by a more stoic expression that hides her amazement. ]

Thank you for telling me, Adell.

[ She doesn't seem too put off by them, at any rate. ]

...Come to think of it, I don't think I've even told Charlotte yet. ...Though I think by now she's already figured it out.

...I'm just glad it didn't bother you or anything. Thanks, Sylvia. It's just that here in Luceti people get jumpy when you use the word "Demon", even though not all demons have to be evil.

[ She doesn't comment on Charlotte. Ditsy as her friend might be, Charle can be surprisingly sharp. So maybe she has figured it out already.

Then there's the slightest shake of a head from Sylvia. ]

There's no reason to treat you unkindly. So you're a demon. What of it? You are Adell.

[You see that? That's a smile, broad, genuine, and relieved.]
