Electricity!  Light!  Man, did I miss it.  Hey, has this spread through the whole village?   I'm going to run out and see what stuff we can use it with.  Maybe we can get a TV or something.  If nothing else, it'll be nice to actually be able to see at night without candles!

[Sounds a bit raw.]

Thanks, Adell. A walk sounds fine, once it stops thundering.

...you're familiar with all this new stuff?

Just name the time and I'll be there.

...And yeah, they had a lot of this stuff back on Veldime. Electricity's really convenient.

It's all pretty strange to me. I've heard about not touching the wall things, but the rest of it...you know how it works, then?

Kind of. Electricity is kind of like your lightning magic in some ways. But electricity is a charge of energy produced from an outside source. That energy can be harnessed by various means to do lots of different stuff. I know that's kind of vague, but... uh.

Okay, I got it. The artificial lights? The lamps? The energy from the electricity heat up a filament inside a bulb. It gets really hot causing it to produce both heat and light like a fire, but mostly light. ...Don't touch light bulbs that are turned on with your bare hands, by the way. You'll burn yourself. Other stuff kind of works like that too.

...Honestly, I don't know that much about how the specifics work. Kurtis would be able to tell you that.

I know! Isn't it awesome, Charlotte? Don't have to use candles if we don't want to anymore.

Looks like the electricity's almost up everywhere now. We got it here in the community building I'm in!

Man, a TV would be sweet! I gotta wonder if we'd actually get to watch any of it since we're stuck here though. Heh, you don't suppose there'd be any computers around either, do you?

Huh. I hadn't thought about channels. I guess we don't exactly have cable or any sort of broadcast towers or anything... Still, if they have 'em, it's worth trying.

Computers would be sweet too. Never was too big on using them, but it'd be nice to have one.

Hey, I'm all for 'em too, especially we can find some video game consoles to hook 'em up with! I wouldn't mind a computer, though I don't think they'd let us get on the internet here, heh. A camera might be cool too!

Man, but I thought we'd be stuck here without electricity for forever! Having it should make some things way more convenient now.

Honestly, I'm just glad to be able to see at night again. It'll make reading a lot easier, considering there's nothing to do after dark.

...Maybe that'll change now.

They really would be. Even if we just get the stuff the people outside the barrier watch. That'd be better than nothing, probably.

Definitely. If they can make a barrier like the one they have keeping us in here, if they didn't have working televisions, I'd have to question just how smart they really are.

...Unless they've got nothing better to do than science.

[Terra enters the general store, folding her umbrella once she steps to the side. She peers around, probably with the same intent, and perks up when she spots a familiar face.]

Adell!

[She waves, heading over.]

Terra! Hey, glad to see you!

[A wave accompanies the greeting. He's currently rummaging through a series of desk lamps, though.]

Sonic was right! It didn't take too long, after all.

[Meaning the kidnapping issues, of course. She pauses to look at the desk lamps.]

All this new technology is interesting, isn't it? I remember a little from home, but we didn't have this much.

Glad you're feeling back to normal! ...We still need to celebrate.

It's nice to have some of it back. This kind of stuff is in every house in Holt Village back home. I'm glad I can get ditch some of those candles, I'm tired of getting wax everywhere. Can't tell ya how many times I would've burned myself if I wasn't wearing gloves so much.
