Chicken Gumbo, for here, please

As I'm sitting here in Qdoba eating a nice bowl of Chicken Gumbo, I take some time to think about everything that's happened in the past year since my graduation from the university. So much and so little has happened in that time, and thinking back on it I realize that I've changed a lot and a little at the same time. A bit cryptic, I know, but ( Read more... )

First, you might want to consider that chain maille-making might be contributing to your lack of being married. Just saying. ;)

Second, (and for the serious part) are you sure you can get a job with a bachelor's in engineering? Maybe you need a masters to get the sort of jobs you want. It's scary to think about extra loans, but there it is. It's why I had to go to grad school.

if i needed to have a masters to get an entry level job, then what's the point of the bachelor's? with the bachelor's alone, i'm over-qualified for some entry level jobs (I.T. help desk, etc). i've been told that it's better to have the bachelor's and some experience, then the master's with no experience. i dunno. too tired to think right now.

and the chain maille does get some attention, especially when i make the jewelry pieces =P

Can I just say I know exactly where you've been? Well, with a few differences of course. But I'm hoping that what I say might encourage you just a little ( ... )

Also, WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT MARRIAGE?

Worry about the damn job thing first. Yeah, everyone is getting married. So what? Worry about marriage when everyone starts calling you "Uncle Mars."

Hmm, about the marriage thing - I totally see your point. I just finished posting something similar about things like that happening in their own, right time. It seems like you've got your head on your shoulders about the situation, and that's awesome :)

As far as the job thing goes, sorry to hear that you're having issues. I know that Royal Caribbean is hiring in their IT department. Not sure what exactly, but here's a link to our job listings site: http://royalcaribbean.hire.com/index.html

The IT department is in Miramar, but the drive is alot faster on the highway than the drive I take to the Port via US-1 every day.

Good luck with everything! :)
