So Flist I have a dilemma. Whenever I find myself on a plane recently (which has been a lot, haha) I find it really really easy to write. Like I can just hunker down and beat out about 1000 words in an hour. But whenever I'm at home or at work I just can't work at this pace. I suspect it has something to do with distraction, but the problem is ( Read more... )

I'd recommend Olafur Arnalds "Eulogy for Evolution." Look it up on Grooveshark and see if it's something you'd be interested in. A friend of mine rec'd it to me over a year ago when I was facing a similar issue. (Kept getting too into awesome song lyrics to RP properly.) Hope you like it!

I've been rocking out to Holst's The Planets recently and Joaquin Turina's La Oracion del Torero

I like listening to classical music and/or soundtracks when I study. The Nodame soundtracks are particularly good for this, and if you remind me on AIM tonight I can upload a few for you. Otherwise, I do love the Harry Potter, Narnia, and Star Trek soundtracks. Oh, and the Gankutsuou classical compilation as well.

If you like Native flute/drum music, try Cusco, who did a take on such back in the late 1980s/early 1990s; I would recommend starting with their Apurimac III CD (especially "Kokopelli's Dream" and "Pahrump-Big Water") or Apurimac II (especially "Mexica" and "Goddess of the Moon"). All should be available on YouTube or Playlist. If you don't listen to AfroCelt, you should give them a listen; they do some singing, but more instrumental stuff (their CDs are a mix of both). Also, Orbital is good if you go for ambient music.

It's funny that you mention instrumental, because I've been on quite the same kick lately. Reverse recommendations welcome!
