Lately I've read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson. I also have the final part of the trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest but haven't started it yet. If you haven't read them or seen the movies, they're all very good reads. If you haven't read it, The Queen's Thief Series by Megan Whalen Turner is great. It's low fantasy (that is, less magic, more awesome politics) and essentially takes place in an Alternate History Greece.
