TWIN CITIES REPRESENT. I am pleased that most of the cities I want to live in some day are on that list.

My paternal grandmother was born in Saskatchewan, so I'm a quarter Canadian anyway. I should get a quarter of the health care.

What amuses me is that most state capitols, even of states though of as being traditionally conservative, are on the list. It's like. The government in those cities may not be liberal but the people living there certainly seem to be.

Just playing devil's advocate here but.... it's not like the Democrats don't make exactly the same inflammatory blanket statements. That's the current political climate: it's only democracy if my side wins. A sister to It's only Bipartisanship if you admit that I'm totally right and beg my forgiveness for ever having an opinion in the first place.

I'm not necessarily saying that Democrats don't make the same blanket statements. I know personally that regardless of the margin the health care bill passed with, I want Republicans to stop messing with it because it passed and that has to count for something. But I don't think the Democrats are as inflammatory about it. I get the impression from the Democratic party that they're much more willing to engage in bipartisan politics but the Republicans are unwilling to even meet them halfway, claiming that everything the Dems stand for is "Un-American." That's mostly my beef here.

I think you don't see them as inflammatory because you agree with them. I'm an independent: sometimes I vote Dem, sometimes I vote Rep ... and I'd like to think I mingle well with people from both sides. But neither party treats supporters of the other side like they're intelligent human beings, like their opinions or viewpoints might be valid.

This is from the Democratic Party's official blog:

Right now, there are potential voters in your area -- folks who support what you and I are fighting for -- who will only vote if you reach out to them in these final days.

Maybe they don't know the stakes in this election. Maybe they've heard too many of the lies coming from the other side about what this movement has accomplished.

Or maybe they just haven't been paying attention.So... according to the Dems people who do not vote Dem are either 1) ignorant 2) misinformed or 3) the enemy? O.o The Dems spend a lot of time saying they're all about bipartisanship at the same time they use language that paints them as noble freedom fighters, ( ... )

No worries, I am certainly not reading it as a defense for the Republicans but I do feel as though the statement that you've quoted can be taken another way.

If anything, it's the Democrats referring to themselves as ignorant and misinformed. The call to action isn't asking Democrats to approach Republicans who "don't know the stakes," "have heard lies," or "haven't been paying attention," it's asking Dems to approach other people who agree with the values of the Democratic party, "folks who support what you and I are fighting for," and encourage them to vote because they might be ignorant or misinformed. It says nothing about people who don't vote Dem, to me, it seems to be talking entirely about people who just don't voteAnd I'm honestly a little confused about how talking about bipartisanship and painting themselves as freedom fighters are two contrary dialogues? The Dem's agenda includes a lot of goals for more rights for people, but they want to accomplish those reforms with the support of the Republican part if at all ( ... )
