Plans Set In Stone

Okay, so I’m a little over two weeks away from leaving the U.S. and heading for Europe.

And, well…after hours of exhaustive research on train schedules, I finally have my itinerary in place for the Germany - Benelux part of my vacation in Europe. In hindsight, I perhaps should have looked more closely at the train schedule and the connecting ( Read more... )

I'm really looking forward to it. I wish it was this coming week. But...it'll be here before you know it.

Yes, Americans are an uptight, conservative bunch. I was absolutely amazed when I moved here in 1977 and there was a controversy over an advertisement in a magazine that showed a partial nipple. Hell, as a kid I remember seeing fully exposed breasts in ads for breast creams and stuff where I grew up. It was never a big deal to me. To this day I am absolutely amazed at how many Americans seem to live to be offended by something...anything! They go out of their way to be offended.

I almost didn't return when I was in Europe in 1991. To this day, I still wonder why I did.

It's funny you mention Austria. The other day I was talking to a friend and kept saying "Australia" instead of "Austria". He kept joking about how I was really traveling very far, and I kept saying it's just one country over. He finally pointed out I was saying "Australia". :-)

It's going to be mucho fun!

You'll certainly see a lot of pics! :-)

If you'll be in Europe, I recommend traveling by train.

Brugge (or Bruges), is a beautiful city. We'll have to compare our experiences there.

unfortunately we are only there for a day, we are on a 15 day cruise from Rome to London. I must learn to use photobucket properly before I go, much easier all round I think ...

I'll only be there for one day and night myself. I'm spending just a day and night in most of the places I'm visiting. I'm now thinking that I should have taken another week for this vacation. It seemed three weeks was a bit too long on a previous vacation there, but now I'm thinking it should have been three weeks instead of two weeks and two days. Oh well, next time I go it'll be three full weeks.

Diet tip; find real breast's to lick rather than the ones in the store window!

Maybe you can join me in 2012? :-)

I wish you could come along. It would be more fun than making the trip solo.
