Summary: She wasn't from Earth and at times that made her feel so alone.
Being on Earth was... lonely at times, if she was to be honest with herself and Starfire had learned from a young age it was best to be honest with herself. That was how she could best control her powers, after all. By being honest with and about her emotions.
Earth was new, strange, full of different customs and cultures. The entire planet was divided into sections. Sections where one thing was considered okay in the first, and not in the second. It took time to understand, but for no one else it seemed.
Most of her team was from Earth and understood everything well enough. They didn't make the mistakes she did, or suffer from misunderstandings like she had. Raven, perhaps, might of had difficulties too, but she never showed it. There were times Starfire wished she was like her dear friend Raven, who seemed to be okay with the differences and adapted far better than her.
But Starfire wasn't like Raven, with her indifference or like Robin, Cyborg or Beast Boy who had grown up on this planet and instinctively knew things she would have to carefully watch and adjust to. Starfire was different, isolated in a sense, and after coming from such a happy, well connected (mostly, she thought whenever her sister Blackfire entered her mind) planet like Tamaran, it was hard.
She didn't think of the difficulties that inspired her loneliness very often. Only once in a while would the isolation rear it's head on the young alien girl, full of so much righteousness, love and understanding. Whenever it did, however, it was quickly quashed down, because no matter how isolated she seemed, Starfire was surrounded by her dear friends. Ones who loved her very much and she them.
