Don't know as there's sound evidence to support it, but you said 'it seemed to have no effect'. Did you eat the chocolate in response to your depression, or before? It appears you established the pattern of depression first, chocolate bars second. Just something to consider. :)
If you want a chocolate addict, look no further than me. I am a self-proclaimed choclaholic (as many of my friends put it). I've severely cut back, though. o.o;;
It could also be that eating the chocolate triggered the feelings of depression by association. Or maybe you were having a down day. It does happen. *hugs*
