Wait, so you get to choose what happens to the characters in this game?

You can choose whether or not to use the characters because it's best to use a select few instead of trying to use them all in one play through. Also, you build support, which is building bonds and in this game (Awakening) S is when two characters get married, giving them a chance to create a child with better stats than the parents.

It's... complicated, but I would recommend Awakening to beginning players too.
