Finally caught up on GoT

Now I dunno how many peeps on my flist have read the all books so I am going to put this under a cut because I don't think I can separate out book and non-book stuff LOL

First things first - not impressed with the casting choice for Daario Naharis. What, did they just go and knock on Fabio's door and ask for his grandson? I actually pictured Daario as more like the Titan's Bastard, except athletic rather than brutish.

I like how Arya is coming along. I'm surprised how well I recall things from the book because sometimes the line blurs for me. Like how Arya killed that soldier in the final parts of Myhsa (Or whatever that episode was called) and said it was her first kill. Immediately I was thinking, no, Arya's first kill was the stable boy at King's Landing. I surprise myself with how I remember details like that from the books.

I do appreciate that Arya's development as a killer is happening in front of The Hound. This was something I had hoped would continue in the books but didn't. I think it would make for interesting developments later when/if The Hound is reunited with Sansa.

Now Sansa - I do like how we were reminded of just how young she is when she was sharing ways to get revenge of the lords laughing at her and Tyrion in the garden. Obviously this was also a reminder for Tyrion but I don't think he really needed that reminder. I am holding out for Sansa to switch on to the fact Tyrion is her greatest ally. I wonder to what extent he can teach her the machinations of the Game? Would love to see her get back at Cersei or Joffery that way.

I liked that Tyrion didn't have to be the one to tell Sansa about the Red Wedding.

The speed with which Ser Davos learns to read in the show is ah-maze-ing LOL

Cersei's reaction to seeing Jaime seemed flat. I would think if I hadn't seen my beloved brother in months I would be overwhelmed so much that I wouldn't notice the stump at first. But then this is Cersei.

Please go Shae, you are distracting Tyrion from his work at winning Sansa over. Also it is apparent that tv-Shae will not go the way of book-Shae. I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Which brings me to the book vs the show. at first I was disappointed that certain things were being left out. But now, while there are still things I miss, I am starting to see the possibilities presented by the show, in that some of the little (or big) things that book fans were for/against could be catered to in the show. To an extent though. Like I hated the fact the Red Wedding happened in the book and I understood that it *had* to happen in the show because it is such a major event. I do like how the show killed off whats-her-name, Robb's wife. I felt she was a complete waste of space. Her role in the book may turn out to be more interesting but I'm waiting to see on that.

The final scene with Daenerys and the people of Yunkai? I haven't read any reaction to that yet but I can only imagine. I'm sure someone else would have pointed out the parallels between Daenerys and the Virgin Mary. The colours of her wardrobe just rammed that home for me. Her story line is a bit heavy handed in many places.

The scene where Ygritte shoots Jon broke my heart...

OT - how does one use Tumblr? I have a Tumblr account and I like going there to search for gifs occasionally but otherwise I don't use it. I wonder if I am missing out on something LOL
