Good morning all! Yes I'm back in civilisation (of sorts lol). I flew in to Cairns on Monday and have been kinda laying low. I don't have much cash to my name so its not like I can go out and party and catch up with all the people I want to. Or maybe I'm too feeling terribly sociable yet...
First thing on the list when I arrived was to go stock up on my meds. I cut it really fine with my supply up in PNG - don't know how I managed that but at least I didn't run out. I also went and got a haircut - although my hair was an inch or two below my shoulders, most of my hair around the back of my crown was broken and thin. I think it's because I did some diving (i.e. my dive mask strap got some hair stuck in it) and I've been wearing my hair mostly coiled at the back of my head with an alligator clip (so over time more and more of my hair would snap from the tension). So I decided I needed a good chop. I'm not really happy ith what the hairdresser has done. The back is fairly short with 1 inch layers, I kept my fringe and she trimmed and layered the sides but the sides are still long enough to look like I have a short bob from the front. Yeah its weird. I'll probably just go completely short in a month or two. For the moment I'll just go with it. Serves me right for not being more assertive when i went in for the cut.
I need to find some work. I'm going to register with my old temp agency again and tomorrow I'll pop into my old work to see if they need a hand with anything. THe bigger plan is I will be going home again to work for my parents but I need a work permit as I am not a PNG citizen. And the work permit application process has been known to take at least 6 weeks if not several months. So this week I'm working on the paperwork for that and then my brother will help me submit it through his HR department at work (they do heaps of work permits each year for their staff).
My brother went into surgery last night to remove debris from a burst disc in his spine. He's all good this morning and should be comic home this afternoon. He timed it so that I would be here to help while he is recovering at home. My sister-in-law works swing shifts at a mine so when she isn't here I'll be responsible for looking after my nieces and my brother. Which is all good - I like feeling needed :)
Other things I have to work on in the next few days - my brother suggested I sell my car for cash. I had been thinking of doing it when I leave Cairns next, but I do need the cash now and I feel like I should take on my brother's suggestions because otherwise I'll just sit on things and nothing will happen fast.
I've also gotta do a meal plan - for myself (I have put on ~9kg/19lbs :/ since October last year), and for the meals I'm going to be cooking for the family I can do a grocery shopping list for my sister-in-law.
So yeah. Lots to do. I best get to it I guess :)
