history book writer

I was taking tests on ok cupid and i came across a european history test. The first question that bugged me was #2 "476 CE?" and the answer she gives for it is "Rome collapsed, finally." I think she meant it in terms of the empire but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was speaking of the city falling out of imperial hands. But ( Read more... )

Russia did adopt the roman(byzantine) double headed eagle and assume the role of protector of orthodox christians a while after the turks took constantinople. when the communists executed the russian royal family imperial russia died a similar death. I consider Moscow the third rome(and since the fall of communism I sort of see them reviving their roman ways) but not in the same sense that Constantinople was the second Rome. Moscow took up the cause because Europe needed it, but Constantinople took the cause because it was in the same country as rome and not a separate nation altogether as a lot of people seem to believe.

I don't know if she really meant she's a history book writer. The sentence you bolded is poorly worded and has at least one typo, but I think she probably means she's used to CE/BCE notation from history books that she's read, and has used it in essays she's had to write.
