Well greece served as a major source of inspiration, at best, and a model to copy at worst, for roman civilization and i don't think many people will dispute that. but rome took many greek ideas and civilized europe with them and for that i'm very grateful. essentially my love of rome comes down to the same thing as your prof though, because i dont consider roman to be latin specifically but greek as well. esp considering the roman empire after the fall of the west became more and more greek, by the end everyone spoke greek and were greek orthodox. rome, greece, and russia are my three favorite themes of history because of how they're all linked. Nicholas II, Caesar Augustus, and everyone in between were all caesars.

My favorite aspect of Roman theatre is that all the characters are Greeks, esp. in comedies, because the Roman people didn't want to watch Romans doing silly things. That would have been undignified. But making fun of Greeks was like their favorite pastime.
