I have to make a quick note of my utter disgust of my own country. But first I must confess, it is now the morning of September 15th 2006. Four days past the fifth year "anniversary" of the September 11th tragedy. I've always been morbidly fascinated by the events of that day. But information has been seemingly scarce. Especially in the first couple years following. And eventually I let it go and quit worrying about it. But they made a big deal about it this year so it was easy to acquire quite a bit of info. that has surfaced in the past couple years. And so I downloaded. Documentary after documentary. And absorbed. Compassion and curiosity started it. The Twin Towers was the biggest event of that day. So that's where I started. Its still the most remembered of the events. The Naudet brothers' documentary about a simple fire department. While documenting they happened to be in the right place at the right time. Its the only known footage of the first air plane hitting the north tower. And I think it might be the only footage from inside either of the towers during the event. It was very fascinating. From beginning to end, you were in the shoes of a Nuadet brother. One inside the towers. WHILE a tower fell. So I got a very close and personal look at what the firemen went through on that day. The first department on the scene. Fascinating and very informative.
I then moved on to a documentary done by the Discovery channel called Inside the Twin Towers. This moved to the other perspective. Victims. Stories told by survivors. Also very fascinating. There was a man on the 81st floor of the second tower. The impact occured between the 79th floor and the 85th floor I believe. It crashed into his office. An absolute miracle he survived. And others. Even above the impact. Two very well made peices of documentary history. And I had only just opened the door to the issue(s) (as there are many issues surrounding the events that I later became aware of, and quickly sickened by)
It quickly became apparent that though the Trade Center tragedy was well documented. And the Flight 93 incident about the crash in Pennsylvania was basically an open and shut case (or so the official story would have you believe, though I later learned different regarding this as well). I began to wonder why was there never any mention of what happened at the pentagon. So I searched. I found two very interesting webpages. They're obviously related web pages. One
reviews the events. Another is for
reasearch purposes, documenting only facts and letting you draw your own conclusions about the anomalies and inconsistencies of the events. And a lot of questions rose. And curiosity peaked. And I soaked in as much as I could. And you quickly get the feeling of a conspiracy. But if you dig deeper you break past that feeling and start to get a different picture. 9/11 was convenient for the Bush administration. But it wasn't orchestrated. Despite the fact that they try to cover up the fact that the pentagon was ever hit at all. Despite the fact that they try to cover up the fact that we shot down flight 93 and there was no rebellion (regardless if one was being plotted, the doomed passengers never had a chance to engage in their revolt). And despite the unreasonable and questionable destruction of the twin towers. Those in power were well aware these events could take place
Another documentary I downloaded, The Press For Truth, about the mothers and wives of victims trying desperately to get answers as to what exactly happened and why, distraught that the powers that be would only push off their questions, they eventually stumbled across a free-lance journalists documentation towards a timeline of events that posed answers to their many questions in a well organized arena, and answered a lot more. The timeline peiced together everything leading up to 9/11 and everything that's become of it afterwards. The propaganda-like use of it to wage war. This is all well known. But the interesting tid-bits is that our leaders claim they could have never dreamed something of this might happen. However back in '95 we were warned that terrorist groups might be plotting to use air planes as weapons, and named potential targets, which included the pentagon and world trade center. And in the years preceeding the event, we were warned many more times by many countries, including France and Britain that it was likely going to happen, and we seemed to ignore it. Yet after watching this documentary and delving more into the webpages, you see that we didn't ignore it. We USED it. Government officials not only knew it was going to happen, they knew WHEN it was going to happen. Cancelling trips on that day. Even going into hiding for the day. Apparently we didn't know the extent things were going to happen. But we knew it was going to happen. And our leaders let it happen. They WANTED it to happen. I don't think they planned on it being that devastating, but I also don't think they cared. The more destruction, the more emotionally wraught their citizens, the easier to manipulate, and the more power they get.
This all lead to a natural progression to documentaries about internal and foreign policy of recent years. And foreign policy is such a hot topic right now. The next documentary I watched was called Weapons of Mass Deception. Which showed how the government uses media to control the people. We edit our current history, much like Nazi powers, to make people believe what we want them to believe. Countries around the world to witness events of our war in the middle east saw a whole different war than the one we see here because the government is controlling our media. And what's worse is our media and reporters want to be controlled. They're not impartial. The government is actually endorsing them. Embedding them into infantries. They sleep the with troops, and therefore become sympathetic toward their cause. Forcing a bias of the media that at its core is human nature, granted, but completely decieving and unrealistic and horribly one-sided. And as if my summed up disgust wasn't enough at this point I download yet another documentary, which is old, yes, but still very informative
The World According To Bush. Now this is some scary shit. I thought this guy was a retard before. I think within the first minute they note that he's arrogant, self-serving, and completely ignorant. And his views on foreign policy are almost completely non-existant. He doesn't know the world around him from the walls around his little safe haven in the oval office. His views about the world are given to him by religious fanatical right-wing extremists obsessed with israel and the muddled and misconstrued self-serving words of God. And this war in Iraq. I'm happy to finally learn myself of it. Its completely absurd. I thought he just had a penchant for finishing his daddy's war. But no, he's got his own agenda, and he's completely insane. His whole administration is maniacly evil and completely freaking insane. Evil caniving and manipulative politics are one thing. You do what you can to get in power. But my God. They lie. Blatantly. On national television. And any uneducated person is going to believe them. And any educated person that calls them out gets hit with the worst kinds of smear campaigns. Its insane. And I'm not even scratching the surface. And its not only against educated people in our own country. Its no fucking wonder the world is disgusted with us. I thought it was mostly because we're fat lazy and arrogant. If that was the worst of our faults, the world could love us, in comparison to what we really are. We are freaking horrible. And I can't wait until this lunatic is out of office. My god I wish the people could open their eyes and we could hurry up and impeach the bastard and make changes for the better as fast as possible, because horrible long lasting damage has already been done. I dread to think what else will happen under this administration. But I fear we have to wait it out and pray we can survive the changes to come while they remain in power.
I hope the world at large can forgive and understand that not every american follows, agrees with (or for the most part even KNOWS) what's going on with our leaders. If there is a God may he truly save this country... Or heaven help the world at large. Things aren't looking good. Neo-conservatives are scary...
A true patriot should never be afraid to defend his country... from itself.
And another quote, though I'm not honestly sure how it goes. But its something like I would rather those in power burn the flag and wrap themselves in the constitution than burn the constitution and wrap themselves in the flag.
Scary indeed. Liberal patriotism here. And I think I shall flee from my own country before it circles the drain and gets swallowed into the abyss. Save me Jessica
