My mom went to the Doctor again yesterday. She has a secondary infection and has to return in two weeks. If it isn't gone by then, we have to go through another litany of tests and blood work. Gah!!! I just wish she was well. I know this is part of it and will continue to be for the rest of her life, because her liver just can't handle the stress ( Read more... )

Candles, prayers, positive thoughts, and meditation...consider it done.

Have I mentioned lately how proud I am of you for being there for her? I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks guys!

She as Hepatitis C. We aren't sure where she got it, since she isn't a drug user or ever had a blood transfusion, but she worked in the emergency room for years and probably was pricked by a needle or something...it is only a blood bourne disease, so it isn't contagious, except through blood. She can have a liver transplant but the waiting list and cost make that next to impossible. Her liver is still working so she is not a high priority case, but because it doesn't work like normal peoples, she is more succeptible to illness, and her blood is higher in toxins because the liver can't keep up. There is no cure and she has already been through what treatments are available. They won't do anymore treatments becuase they make her sicker than just letting the disease run it's course. This current infection is making her body break out in rashes and hives and giving her fever. We just hope the antibiotics work so she won't have to go back in the hospital.
