It's stunning! The colour is really nice, sort of a garnet red. Make me a dress like that XD I just don't have the willpower or patience to sew a dress. Did it take you long, and did you find it difficult? Did you draft your own pattern or alter a ready made one?
Sorry for all the q's XD I've only sewn very simple garments before.
The silver thingybobbs at each end, what are they called? I wanted to use them on my Moitie choker, but searched all the racks at spotlight and all the findings looked the same and kind of merged into a huge silver blob x__x (I spend too long in spotlight and go funny in the head, obviously) So it would be great to just ask the staff where I can find ______insert item here_______.
The velvet ribbon is perfectly chosen too..it's such a dreamy dress!
I really wanted a dress this colour but MM would never fit me! So I made it. It's a self drafted pattern. Do you recall a daily post with me in a cream classic dress? That was my mock-up, and then this one is the real version. I studied a few classical jsk tutorials and then thought about how to go about drafting my own one. This consists of 6 panels. The front 3 are shorter, because there is one ruched panel for the bust. Then two things for the sleeves and ruffles. It's really straight forward but it just took a bit of tweaking to get right. Even now, it's not perfect (I got lazy at the end and the ruffles arent quite all teh same length and the hems aren't rolled twice..) but this was a lot easier than the first dress I made (fail cherry dress halter D
( ... )
I think I remember the cream dress, but do you have a link for your post so I can see again? :)
Wow, good job on drafting a pattern! I drafted a pattern for my ball dress last year but that was very simple (strapless, with huge rectangle pleated into bodice)
Why are the front 3 shorter if they have to be ruched? Wouldn't the ruching make them even shorter, so they'd end up shorter than the back of the dress after ruching? Sorry if I don't make sense lol
Ruffles are frustrating - I have a hard time getting them all the same length myself..
Ohh..thank you! Extenders..I shall visit spotlight tomorrow and have a look for them (and crimps)
Also, I just wanted to say on your last journal entry - don't be discouraged in your creativity... I've had plenty of times where people have said "oh that's great, I would totally buy one if you made them".. I make them, no buyers. It happens :( You have been quite successful previously though, haven't you? Those lace AP style gloves? :)
About to post soonish :D But definitely next meet I think. Now, if only I was as productive as you in my sewing! I still have another threeish dresses to do, but I have no idea when I can do them!
Sometimes I wish that I was not quite so productive. I am hoping I can find some time to actually make some new Lolita pieces. I have fabric for quite a few, just haven't had time to actually make them up.
