So I am home from my big vacation in NYC and quite sad about being home. The trip was a blast and I completely fell in love with New York. Now I understand why my niece (who lives there) calls it "The Center of the Universe". ( Read more... )
My mom is from Fleming and I been to NY a number of times. Have to say I also loved it. The things to do and see are great. Can't wait for more of your pic.
I was very impressed with NYC. People were polite and kind, definitely saw sights that I sure don't see here at home, and the energy of the city is just astounding.
I'm completely envious that you have been to NYC multiple times!
I'll be doing a number of posts, as I don't want to post too many pictures at one time.
Yes, NY is so wonderful. I stay with my Aunt there for almost a month when I was 18 (45 years ago) and have been back a lot. Loved showing my kids and now my grandkids the site.
It sounds like a wonderful vacation. And yeah, New York is crackling with energy, it can be an amazing place! What a kick to have been in Flushing Meadows in '64 and now having a chance to see it again! I'm embarrassed to admit that after all these years of living in New York I've never been to Flushing--well except to the Mets ballpark, but I'm not sure that counts. I've seen the sphere from afar, I had no idea there were other things left from the World's Fair. It must have been something at the time.
Can't wait to hear your report on Veselka; and what else did you get to see?
I'm thrilled that you had such a great time in NYC! Thanks for the wonderful photos of the World's Fair--they really brought back memories.
I was eleven years old when the Fair opened. I remember playing MFU with my girlfriends there, stealthy spies casing THRUSH villains amid all the exotic buildings. The NY State Pavilion, with its two UfO satellites, was the site of my high school prom six years later. How time flies.
Oh, how awesome! Now I have this mental image of you dodging amongst the pavilions and keeping an eye out for Illya and Napoleon. What fun that you were able to go with friends. And that a few years later, you went to your prom there!
Glad I was able to bring back a few enjoyable memories with the pictures.
I got to New York two years ago and fell head-over-heels in love as well. Was supposed to go back this year, but life has got in the way. But maybe one day. We got up to the top of the Rock, and I could sit in Grand Central Station for a week! There is so much to love.
It was December my friend and I were there, and even then there were people playing and performing in Central Park, - yes, I was just looking at the ourdoor performers in your other post - and the view from the Top of the Rock was stunning. Wasn't like December at all. It was magic.

The awful thing of course is that if I were a visitor I'd make the effort to go!
