So, basically, Lynn Johnston is calling for a "do-over"?

It has been done before. "Peanuts" is the most recent example. The strips were scheduled to repeat before he passed away. Gary Larson's "The Far Side" is another example, where the artist stopped production but the strip continued in several papers. (Many papers failed to carry the 'repeat' subscription.)
