For Crying Out Loud...

Well the bridesmaids dresses have been changed for the third time, this time after placing the order, to make them all the same design as the matron of honor's dress. Which is what the bride wanted in the first place. And all the bridesmaids like better than the one that was ordered. AARGH ( Read more... )

I'm sorry but you cannot honestly expect everyone to respect your believes when they disagree with you on religion related topics -especially not on a forum where all walks of life meet. When making profound christian statements like you did, people are just bound to attack you for it. I know, I know, it's not right. But it is way how things work. We don't live in paradise anymore, remember.

However, not being able to get any respect from them does not mean you should just stand up and leave. Just admit to yourself that this is one subject you cannot discuss 'freely' with everyone. And after that, well.. it's just 'one' thing you had difficulty with on BuF. Forget those trifles, there are plenty of other things to talk about on BuF.

You are a good man w0rf, I would hate seeing you leave BuF over this.

This is not just "one thing" tho, Gir. It happens every time I hop into one of the more "fun" OT threads; religion, politics, the war, even the whole bit on intraweb music... you just have to ask yourself at some point, what's the point? It's the same reason I recused myself from IRC, why continue to subject myself to aggravation when there's really no compelling reason to do so?

I wasn't really going to mention BuF specifically as I don't want my journal to be a soapbox. But since it's now public knowledge, I will say that BU is still the best source I know for UT info. And unless I become some kind of pariah, unwelcome anywhere in the f0s, I may still lurk on the technology board and the UT board. But I'm done with OT. I don't really feel like I get anything out of the discussion so it seems foolish for me to just keep jumping onto that horse.

Well, let me just ask you one last question. If the 'things' are topic bound, can you knowingly avoind them?

I only post in the threads that interest me. That leaves little except lurking which is not much fun for me. Retiring myself from OT *is* my way of avoiding tender issues.
