[rp: nexus: the housewarming]

Jun 04, 2009 19:19

In an unusually quiet corner of the Nexus, rather a lot of activity is taking place. A tower built along Norman lines is planted firmly in a field of recently mowed glass, which it shares customarily with an apple tree, and this afternoon only with an assortment of chairs, sofas and a generously loaded buffet table. Behind it, the tower door stands ( Read more... )

Captain John received the invite with no small amount of cheeriness! He got some unpleasant news the other evening, so a party is aways welcome!

He heads over to the tower taking in the tower, it's niiiice!

He spots the Will and a fellow he hasn't met before on the steps.

"Hello! I'm here! Let the party begin!" He cheers greeting them with a wave.

"John," Will greets him cheerfully. "Not surprised to see you're among the first to a party." He stops Bran from escaping. "John, this is my best friend, Bran. Bran, this is John -- Nexus regular and fellow time and space traveller, although I have to admit he's got the better on me in space -- and he's just back from, oh, where was it this time? Greece?"

Bran has a bit of a deer caught in headlights look, but he is hardly going to run away, thanks Will. "How'd you do?" he says, wondering at John -- how literally does Will mean space?

"Hey!" He waves at Bran, and resists from asking why he's named for a breakfast food. "Pretty good, with a party and all..."

"Well...Holland technically, but I hardly did anything there before coming this way." He grins at Will.

Then turns back to Bran. "And space space, where no-one can hear you scream." He chuckles.

Pat showed up in the company of her favorite insane cook, but once any issues of Val being able to use help carrying anything are dealt with, she'll just look around. "Not as far in the future as most places, is it?."

"This is a party," Bran greets Pat cheerfully. "You don't have to be diplomatic -- you can tell Will he's hopelessly behind times." He's teasing, knowing very well that Pat's probably not going to agree with him. "Hello, Pat."

"Shut up, Bran," Will says cheerfully. "You like it?" The last is addressed to Pat, in an off-hand manner intended to be casual.

Pat looks at Bran with obviously-feigned outrage for a moment. "Such cultural insensitivity!" She grins. "Hello, Bran."

She turns to Will. "It's lovely."

It's more baked goods than diced corpses, but yes -- buffet is catering very much towards Will and Bran's tastes than Kaa's, but the boys appreciate Kaa's tact -- or at least Will does, having a much better idea of where Kaa stands on such issues than Bran does. "Hello yourself. We're glad you could make it."

"Hello, Kaa." Bran's at least expecting Kaa this time. "I don't suppose offering you a seat is necessary?" What do you do with a giant snake?

Rhianna comes slowly up the grass, eyeing the tower. Her expression today is clear, unhazy, and she's done what her mother would insist is polite and left her blade at home. (The lack of it, however, is noticeable. She carries herself wholly differently without it.) She's even gone to the trouble of pulling her hair back from her face with a circlet, and she's wearing a decorative leather bracer on her left wrist.

This is what counts, most of the time, as "gussied up" for Rhi.

She pauses near the buffet tables, hesitating a bit, before finally making her way to the tower door to peer inside.

Will shifts aside to give Rhianna a better view of the inside. "You can go inside, you know, look around," he says. "We are showing off a bit tonight."

She does step inside, just into the doorway. Her smile is small, almost embarrassed, "It's nice. It's a nice grassy space, like you said."

Will nods. "Good for many things like I said -- oh, I must remember to introduce you to Melou. He's a little shy, but he's brilliant with a sword. I don't know anything about them, but I know that much."

Thomas glanced around as he stepped onto the lawn, his expression is a mix of awe at the surroundings, and a slight nervousness at being around unknown people. But Will is a good person, so probably anyone he's friends with.

"Wow, this is nice...." He murmur to himself, as a part of his subconsciously took notes.

"Thomas!" Will waves him over, clearly pleased to see him. "You found us without problem then?"

He waves back before quickly scooting over. "Uhm, no problems re-really," The young man nodded in confirmation. "I didn't uh, realize what sorta place you got. It's very nice."

Will's grin is wide -- that was clearly the right thing to say Thomas. "It was a bit of a surprise to all of us -- but it turned out well, I think."
