Why Saving Idiots from Themselves Should NOT be Left to Professionals

A sign at the clinic where I had blood taken this afternoon warned against lifting heavy objects with the "affected" arm within twelve hours of having the blood taken, lest you get a bruise at the site of the needle.

Sigh.

Funny that. I was told pretty much the same thing at McGill Student Health.

Well, the hint is in the title. Basically
a) Since when is bruising such a horrible thing that we need to post signs telling people how to avoid it
and
b) No lifting heavy object for twelve hours after a blood test? Give me a fucking break. How terrified of litigation is this lab? I mean really. Bruising.

Actually, when saying "heavy objects", the person taking my blood pointed at my backpack. Ummmmm... should I leave it at Student Health for 12 hours??
