Sakura Girl lyric
There are two versions of translation shared at news_jpop, but somehow both have parts that aren't the same with what I inferred from the lyric and what I was told about the lyric too '___' .
So, is there anyone care to share with me your idea about Sakura Girl lyric?
Mostly, this verse, and especially the last sentence:
突然の出会い 教室で二人
totsuzen no deai kyoushitsu de futari
なんてことない 台詞ばかり
nante koto nai serifu bakari
でも僕にとっては全部わすれない
demo boku ni totte wa zenbu wasurenai
きっと一生忘れない
kitto isshou wasurenai
散り逝くから 綺麗なんだってさ
chiri yuku kara kireina nandattesa
こんなこと知らない僕に何が出来たって言うのさ
konna koto shiranai boku ni nani ga dekitatte iu no sa
The images I got from the lyric:
- The boy & the girl unexpectedly met in their classroom (totsuzen no deai kyoushitsu de), just two of them (futari)
- The boy thinks it does not suppose to be such kind of situation (nante koto nai)
- The only thing they do is talk (serifu bakari) - because they don't know what else to do, or maybe because there hasn't been anything special between them yet and the boy is holding onto a one-sided love (since in the chorus, he's chasing "his sakura" - matte, matte, boku no sakura)
- Even though, they simply just talk, the boy feels like this moment/time when he gets to be alone with the girl is something he won't forget (demo boku ni totte wa zenbu wasurenai). In fact, he says he won't forget it in his whole life (kitto isshou wasurenai)
- Then, the girl says: "Because the falling (of cherry blossom petals) has ceased, it’s pretty, right?" (chiri yuku kara kireina nandattesa - as how I understand it, in this sentence, "sa" was put at sentence end to indicate assertion).
The problem is mainly the last sentence:
- Originally, I thought that sentence was to express the boy's feeling: he doesn't know what to do (konna koto shiranai boku), with his love I supposed, so he wish he's told what he can do or if there's anything he can do (nani ga dekitatte iu - in this way of thought, "dekita" is simply the past form of "dekiru" with the meaning as "be able to", and "iu" is to tell) about his feelings.
- But, Yuu-chan (akitama) told me, the one who is teaching her Japanese said "ga dekita" is the form to express something that was done completely. And she thought the meaning of the sentence is: the boy realizes the girl has just said something (nani ga dekitatte iu - for this, "iu" is to say or remark), but he has no idea what it is (konna koto shiranai boku). Seems like our boy did not really pay attention to anything (including the talk) but just the girl, herself.
Anyone who has better knowledge about Japanese, please tell me which is the more correct way to understand this sentence ^^
And if possible, please also tell me more about the grammar forms that concern the verb "dekiru". I admit I didn't pay enough attention in these lessons when I were still taking Japanese classes, and I've stopped taking Japanese classes for half a year already DX.
