My condolences to you.
A few years ago my grandmother died after her 14-year-dormant cancer returned. She had been told, 14 years earlier, that she had about 6 months to live, but in her fiery way she fought and survived long enough to see her grandchildren through high school, attend a couple of weddings, and hold her first great-grandchild. She was extremely fond of my wife when they first met; my wife greatly admired her passionate spirit. Those 14 years were a huge blessing.
