I got a phone call on Sunday that my grandmother was not well. She was 99 years old and has had N-stage dementia for quite some time now. But now she had some sort of flu, a high temperature, was very non-responsive, etc. And they couldn't do anything for her because of a living will (she's pretty much ready to go and didn't want to prolong

My condolences to you.
A few years ago my grandmother died after her 14-year-dormant cancer returned. She had been told, 14 years earlier, that she had about 6 months to live, but in her fiery way she fought and survived long enough to see her grandchildren through high school, attend a couple of weddings, and hold her first great-grandchild. She was extremely fond of my wife when they first met; my wife greatly admired her passionate spirit. Those 14 years were a huge blessing.
