Think before acting, people!

While I agree that sadly we need to educate our children in what to do during a school gun attack in this day and age, there is such a thing as going too far...  If this had happened to one of my kids, I'd be going balistic right about now.

Wow...

Did you know that the liklihood of your kids getting shot in school is less than them having to deal with a fire or flood or some "natural" disaster? You know, all those drills that everyone has and everyone knows about and don't freak people out?

You know it's bad when I start thinking that my culture has gotten too paranoid rather than too lacksidasical.

True. But I also think that it doesn't take much to teach a kid what to do in a school lock down situation. Which doesn't have to only include a gun attack, by the way. It could also be a stranger seen in or around the building, especially around a grammar school. Or any other type of unknown, unplanned-for event that may suddenly concern the school principal.

Hopefully my kids will never be at a school when a lock down needs to occur. Certainly the odds say that they will never have to worry about it. But I would also be devastated if something happened to one of my kids because someone went postal at their school and they (not just the kids, but also the teachers) had no clue what to do about it to get out of a dangerous situation alive.

Just my 2 cents...
