Second Life

I was recently doing an inventory of the software on my computer and realized I had Second Life installed on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac. Activating the program on each computer showed me I had, in fact, signed up for a separate account on each one. Two things amuse me about this. I think you can convert Lindens to real money, though I'd imagine it would take a hell of alot of them to amount to even a little bit of real money.

But yeah, those same issues are why I never got into Second Life much...

Wait, you have to pay for a house in Second Life with real money? Where does your avatar sleep?

Well, it's weird. You can buy in-game currency with real money, or other players can "pay" you for providing services or working in-game. The in-game currency would be what you would use to purchase your living space. Otherwise, my avatar is just a vagrant wandering the planet.

Had a similar experience with SL it's huge, but mostly empty, and people generally keep to themselves.

The best Second Life has to offer is the roleplaying and the extensive customization options you have. But those cost both time and money, so in the end it's more like a time consuming hobby.
