Local banks.

Here's a question for the Tally crowd. Can anyone recommend a local bank to open a new checking/savings account with. Kim and I are shopping around after having a bad experience with Envision. We would like to stay with a local Florida bank as all of the big banks seem to be failing.

What happened with Envision. I ask because I have an account with them. They've been really good to us. What happened?

I also have had an account with State Employees Credit Union since I was 9 years old. They are by far the best CU in town. However, I don't know if you have to be a state employee to open an account with them. My mom was at the time she opened the account for me.

I've never had an account with any Bank. Only Credit Unions.

Can't help you there, but you have me curious. I've been a satisfied Envision (formerly NFECU) for about 25 years. What happened to make you decide to move your account(s)? Email me if you don't feel like making that a public thing.

First, let me say I hate B of A. I haven't had a problem with Wahcovia since I joined and I'm also thinking of opening a 2nd accound at WaMu because if you sigh up for direct deposit, you get an extra $100. Wooo! Free money!!!
